President’s
Corner
Just
a reminder…if you have not paid your 2004 dues, we would appreciate that you
do so. It would be great to
go to the District meeting in October with a large percentage of renewals.
Those who have already renewed, a big Thank you goes out to you.
Cookbooks
are ordered and will be in by next month sometime.
Watch for the announcement that they are here and pick yours up.
What great Christmas presents they will make.
The
Hospitalized Vets Day Out was very successful.
There were 105 patients, 10 counselors and many volunteers in
attendance. I would like to say a
special thank you to Maxine Fiedler and Albert for their hard work organizing
everything. It was my first time
to participate in one of these Vets Day Out events and I had a great time.
Thank you to everyone who took time out of his or her day to come help.
If you could plan to attend next time, it will be a fish fry in May,
2004.
Please
plan to attend the Chuck Wagon dinner to benefit our Auxiliary and Make A Wish
of North Texas on October 11, 2003. Please
contact the Legion at 817/326-5145 to donate side dishes, cakes, pies, etc.
It will be fun; see you there.
For God and
Country
Erlene
Blanchette, President
The 2004 membership cards are in. Dues are still $17.50 and we’d like to have 100% participation as early as possible. See any Board member to make your payment.

If you’ve been by the Legion in the last couple of weeks, you couldn’t help but notice that our land has been cleaned up and looks great! Larry Sheffield and Pat Blanchette put in many hard hours trimming trees, mowing, treating for fire ants and burning the limbs in preparation for the Chuck Wagon dinner on October 11.

In addition, Sue Day has been working hard at setting up a website for the Post. She’s done a wonderful job and you should check it out at www.alpost491.0catch.com.
Sue has also generously provided us with the flyers advertising the Chuck Wagon dinner. These turned out really nicely and should attract lots of attention to our event. Thanks, Sue.

Don’t forget our monthly birthday celebration for anyone whose birthday falls in that month. Plan to attend on the third Sunday afternoon of each month. Entertainment will be provided whenever possible and you’re invited to bring a snack item for the party
